France's tallest tower

Bouygues Bâtiment Ile-de-France is carrying out renovation and reconstruction work on the First Tower which, from its commanding 231 metres, will become France's tallest. The project schedules raising one of the three wings by 10 levels, while the tops of the other two will be removed and layered to give a helicoidal shape.

Renovating this high-rise building, emblematic of first-generation towers that scraped skies in the 1970s, will make it one of the first to be HQE-certified [High Environmental Quality] in the business district of La Défense (92) due to highly efficient energy solutions such as installation of double skin airflow façades for solar gain while keeping large glass surfaces, heat pumps and so on...
