ETDE - Tutoring
Individual tutoring for young students
The Bouygues Group is partnering the initiative by the Sciences Po Paris school of political studies to help disadvantaged students in Seine-Saint-Denis, on the outskirts of Paris. ETDE is involved in providing individual tutoring for students aged 15-16.
In 2006 Sciences Po Paris set up an experimental project to give a leg-up to disadvantaged students in Seine-Saint-Denis, where failure at school seems to be the norm. The project consists of helping students, offering skills assessments and career advice, and arranging partnerships with companies providing individual tutoring and long internships. The Group, which supports many socio-cultural projects, is proud to be associated with this project, and has promised to invest €200,000 a year over three years. The project kicked off in September 2006, in collaboration with the head teachers and teachers of 17 classes of 15-16 year olds in four different schools in the area.
Tutoring enables young people who have little experience of company culture to benefit from the experience of an ETDE employee. Tutoring sessions will develop their curiosity about the world of work, increase motivation and help them to define their future career paths.
ETDE is committed to education and integration
As a natural extension of the special information and recruitment day organised by ETDE for young people in the disadvantaged areas of Clichy-sous-Bois and Montfermeil in September 2006, the company continues to be active in these areas. Several future actions are planned, including a visit to “Challenger”, Bouygues Construction’s head office, and meetings with teachers. A tutoring scheme is currently being put into place with the Alfred Nobel school in Clichy-sous-Bois.
