A leader in the earth moving sector

DTP Terrassement worker

A member of Bouygues Construction's specialist civil works division, DTP Terrassement offers a diversified range of skills applied to a wide variety of highly technical project including small-scale local sites, the construction of roads, motorways and high speed rail links and opencast mining operations.

With an organization consisting of eight regional branches and centralized support functions (plant, technical and purchasing), DTP Terrassement is one of the French leaders in the earth-moving sector. Also highly active in other countries, the Bouygues Construction subsidiary can build on its capacity for dispatching its people and their skills on assignment for developments outside France. Site machines are the cornerstone of an earth-moving business, and DTP Terrassement's fleet constitutes an asset of the first order. The company runs a fleet of 900 site machines, 600 of which are situated outside France, and it is currently developing capability for in-house machine maintenance.

High-stake challenges

Thonon-les-Bains bypassOn a commercial level, DTP Terrassement endeavours to develop more partnerships and synergies, including with private customers such as Alstom or other Group structures. Its strategy is also based on achieving an even split between its volume of business in France and in other countries. In France, the priorities of the company's development plan are concessions and public-private partnership operations, diversifying its activities and achieving a denser network to cover the territory. In its international operations, DTP Terrassement aims to strike a balance between major projects and recurrent activities such as open-cast mining.

Building the precepts of sustainable development into its operations also forms an integral part of corporate strategy. One of the company's priorities is introducing eco-friendly driving to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

The issue of safety on its sites is crucially important for DTP Terrassement. A wide-ranging action plan on safety was launched in January 2008, featuring 23 practical measures to be taken to achieve progress. Improvements in site safety will also follow from upgrading equipment (installing reversing cameras on all site machines, for instance), along with awareness campaigns and training programmes for employees.
