October 2005: signature of a 4-year commitment with the Louvre

On Thursday, 13 October 2005, Yves Gabriel, Chairman and CEO of Bouygues Construction, and Henri Loyrette, director of the Louvre Museum, signed a four-year sponsorship agreement.
With this agreement, Bouygues Construction undertakes to fund the planning and development of museum space devoted to late antiquities from the Eastern Mediterranean region, i.e. 1,500 sq.m on the ground floor of the Denon wing.
The new rooms houses works that were dispersed among three of the museum’s antiquities departments and that hadn't been exhibited due to lack of space. Called “Les Trois Antiques” (Three Classical Cultures), the exhibit illustrates exchanges between three ancient civilisations – Oriental, Egyptian and Roman – and the first Christian communities. The new space opened to the public in 2009.
