Our commitments

Our policy

Since 2006, Bouygues Construction has introduced a structured policy to embody its approach to sustainable Logo of the Global Compactdevelopment. In line with its values, combining the quest for performance with respect for people, the Group has committed itself to a long-term vision, through a highly operational approach. Sustainable development now forms an integral part of Bouygues Construction’s development strategy, to which it constantly contributes by delivering innovative solutions that benefit both society and the environment.

Bouygues Construction is also involved with organisations dedicated to promoting the principles of sustainable development. It signed up to the United Nations Global Compact in October 2006, and became a member of Committee 21 in July 2007.

A focus on action

Bouygues Construction has conducted an analysis of the challenges common to all Group companies when dealing with stakeholders – customers, shareholders, partners and suppliers, employees, local residents and civil society at large.

As a result of this analysis, seven key themes that address these issues have been mapped out. These key themes have been broken down into commitments which in turn result in concrete actions. The Bouygues Construction sustainable development policy is founded on a common core of 42 concrete actions applicable to all Group entities. This core is broadened by further measures that meet entities’ specific needs.

Rollout

The rollout of the new policy has been carefully designed to maximise employee buy-in. This entails a method that combines the measurement of progress with customised rollout for each entity.

Each of Bouygues Construction’s entities carries out self-assessment of the 42 common actions, scoring the level attained on a scale of 1 to 4, with 1 being the lowest level and 4 being a level of excellence.

On the basis of this self-assessment, each entity sets its own target levels. They each select their priority actions and define how they will implement them.

Organisation

To oversee rollout, a Sustainable Development department has been set up. It is supported by a Sustainable Development committee made up of representatives of the entities tasked with implementing the programme throughout the Group.
