Creating partnership relations with subcontractors

Illustration of partnershipsThe need to develop a proper partnership approach to subcontractors has now become widespread in the Group companies. The initiative takes a number of forms including the organisation of conventions bringing together the major subcontractors, joint working groups on possible improvements in productivity, safety and quality (e.g. the “Subcontractor Partnership and Engineering Project" in Ile-de-France).

Listening to partners is another a key aspect. This has been formalised by Brézillon since September 2006, with the institution of a cooperation review.
At the end of a project, the subcontractors report on their overall view of the project and of their relationship with Brézillon.

Ensure that suppliers comply with quality and labour standards

A Sustainable Development Charter, drawn up in 2006, will gradually be annexed to all supplier and subcontractor contracts, with particular attention paid to companies operating in emerging countries, which are frequently subject to less stringent legislation than OECD countries.

Concerning such countries, a procedure for overseeing quality and labour standards has been devised by the Purchasing Department to try, as far as possible, to offset risks in these areas, and it will progressively be applied throughout the Group in 2007. An agreement has been concluded with the University of Munich to carry out the quality aspect of these audits.
