ETDE wins an electrification contract in Gabon worth almost €50 million
The new project primarily covers the 63-kilometre extension of a high-voltage line north of the city of Oyem and the electrification of every village as far as the borders with Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea to the north and the city of Minvoul to the east. 110 rural villages are concerned, representing a population of roughly 30,000 inhabitants.
The works are scheduled to take 28 months (including four months of engineering studies). 300 people will be working on the project in peak periods.
Concluded with the Gabon Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, this turnkey contract, which includes financing under a buyer's credit scheme granted by the French State, falls within the scope of the Northern Gabon Interconnected Network programme. It supplements an initial contract worth €32 million that was signed in February 2010 that is currently being carried out, and seeks to open up the region and to prevent rural depopulation by allowing the development of local craft and agricultural activities.
ETDE recorded sales of roughly €200 million in the African continent in 2010. It carried out all-trades projects with high added value including street lighting in Senegal, upgrading of electricity networks in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia, and vast electrification works in Mozambique and Congo.
