The Contract Manager analyses the technical, financial and contractual aspects of the contract.
The Contract Manager performs a very complete role. He organises the internal and external resources to meet the requirements of the project. He plans the studies and design work, and prepares and leads launch and final review meetings. He also directs the bid submission study (identifying risks, managing the work schedule, optimising the study internally and externally, as well as taking responsibility for it, and preparing and leading meetings) and finalizes the submission of the bid. He then presents the bid to the client and leads the negotiations. He transfers the project dossier to the construction team.
Background
Graduate of a school of engineering with or without postgraduate training / Specialized Master diploma, or graduate of a school of business.
Reporting to the Project Manager, he directs, organises and monitors all design work, from the design stage to handover of the drawings.
Background
Trained as an Architect or Architect-Engineer specialised in building
The Works Supervisor carries out contracts obtained by the company to meet the requirements of schedules, quality, safety and cost as well as possible.
The Building Works Engineer works on sites for the construction or renovation of housing or functional structures or facilities, at the main structure and fabric or finishing works stage. He coordinates the various contributors and supervises one or more trades.
His tasks change as the construction work progresses. He manages the preliminary stages (logistic installation on the site, definition of working methods and procedures, analysis of risks, determining the financial target, appointing suppliers), the construction work (supervision and coordination of the works, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and budget control), and the handover stage (correction of defects and completion of outstanding works, and transferring the project dossier to the customer service team).
He takes part in site meetings and handles relations with clients.
Background
Graduate of a school of general engineering or of Building & Civil Engineering, or 4/5 years of university training
Planning of budgets, construction schedules, and human resources, facilities and equipment required for completing a project.
The Cost Estimation Engineer studies a complete dossier on the basis of preliminary design drawings, defines general working methods and procedures in association with the preliminary design department, determines the necessary financial means for each item, and defines a price for completion of the structure or buildings. He then writes a technical note that the commercial team uses to estimate the bid and then follows it up during the negotiation stage. After signature of the contract, he prepares the project dossier for the construction team.
In the building sector, the Cost Estimation Engineer estimates the costs related to a specific trade – such as main structural works, technical trades, architectural trades, core and shell – and is required to move between these different fields.
Background
Graduate of school of general engineering or Building & Civil Engineering, or 4/5 years of university training
Good technical knowledge, with the ability to analyse and form an overview.
Takes part in the design and optimisation of structures.
The Design Engineer or Structures Engineer checks and validates the foundations of the structure or building according to the type of soil (geotechnical studies) and performs technical structural calculations (squaring, ratios of steel and concrete, and strength of materials). He designs the various structural elements (beams, columns, etc.) on the basis of the client’s data, supervises the production of drawings of the structure or building, and contributes to the development of variants to optimise the structure and the use of materials.
He works on building projects at the preliminary design or working design stage. For the preliminary design, the Design Engineer determines the main principles of the structure or building, and provides the Cost Estimation Department with all the items required for drawing up estimates of the structure or building. For the working design, he defines the structure or building in every detail and provides the drawings required for execution of the works on the site.
He also provides technical assistance for the construction teams.

Provides construction sites with the appropriate equipment and plant for the structures or buildings to be constructed.
On site or in a technical base, the Equipment Engineer puts in place preventive maintenance programmes, organises corrective maintenance work on equipment, installations, traditional or automated production machinery, and supervises the condition of stocks of spare parts. In addition, he takes part in negotiations with suppliers and the purchase of equipment (tower cranes, concrete mixing plant, launching frames, tunnel boring machines, etc.), and, according to the client’s needs, takes charge of the installation, start-up and technical assistance required for ensuring profitability of operation. He also creates and takes part in the in-house development of new equipment, and remains continually in touch with manufacturers to improve tools and equipment.

In association with the construction teams, the Methods Engineer develops the construction site working methods.
He organises and defines the lifting and hoisting equipment and the site installation, establishes the principles of execution, the working methods and procedures and phasing, and determines the temporary phases and has them validated by the design office. He also develops the schedule for construction of projects, determines the required material and human resources, initiates the design of specific equipment (such as formwork or safety equipment) and supervises their production by suppliers. He takes part in the start of construction work and finalises the construction methods on the site.
