School relationships

Bouygues Construction’s technical expertise enjoys an excellent reputation. However, to maintain our position in a growing industry and ensure that we remain attractive, we are constantly seeking candidates with a wider range of qualifications. For this reason, we are forging close and special relationships with universities as well as engineering and business schools.
Discover below the depth and breadth of our work.

Career Fairs

illustration career fairsEvery year, Bouygues Construction participates in a large number of career fairs.
Careers fairs are a good opportunity for you, a Master’s Degree student at an engineering or business school or university, to meet human resources and line managers. You will be able to talk to them about the various positions at Bouygues Construction and apply for an internship or job by submitting your CV.

Business Competitions

Logo of the Bouygues Construction ChallengeFor more than 10 years, Bouygues Construction has held a major annual competition called the Bouygues Construction Challenge. The goal of this competition, which revolves around an original case study, is to introduce students to the fields of building, civil engineering and electrical contracting. It is designed for post-graduate students from universities and engineering and business schools.
The Bouygues Construction Challenge is a unique competition based on an actual project management case developed in-house by multidisciplinary teams representing civil engineering, design, sales, financial engineering, legal affairs and other disciplines. The competing teams – French, European and international – are comprised of three engineering students and three business school or university students. That is one of the major novelties of the Bouygues Construction Challenge which, far from pitting one class of students against another, brings them together in a team effort.

Winning the last challenge was the ESTP team made up of Master’s in Finance students from the University of Paris Dauphine. The winners set off on a one-week tour in South Africa on the Gautrain work site, a rail link build by Bouygues Travaux Publics.
The next Challenge will take place on 03-04 December 2008. Starting in September, Bouygues Construction’s School Relations staff will be visiting your school to talk to you about the competition.
We also organise similar or more specialised (sustainable development) competitions on a regional level.
Visit the Bouygues Construction Challenge website.

Partnerships

illustration partnershipsBouygues Construction forges close ties with institutions of higher learning and their students through educational and financial partnerships, which take a variety of forms.

  • Educational Partnerships
    • Individual mentoring
Individual mentoring is designed for Master’s Degree 1 students. This programme gives you the opportunity to establish a relationship with an employee who graduated from your school. By shadowing your mentor, you will gain a better understanding of his or her daily work life. The experience will also help you more clearly define your career objective.
    • Class sponsorship
By sponsoring an entire class, Bouygues Construction can develop a special relationship with students, who are mentored throughout their school years. The company sponsors the Planning, Development and Construction programme at the Ecole Centrale Paris; the Materials and Civil Engineering programme at the Ecole Centrale Nantes; and the Master’s in Architecture programme in Bern, Switzerland. We have also signed partnership agreements with the Ecole des Hautes Etudes d'Ingénieurs (HEI), Ecole Centrale Lyon, Polytech Clermont Ferrand, INSA Rennes, Ecole Centrale Lille, ISBA TP, ESITC Metz and INSA Strasbourg.
    • Ongoing educational activities
Company employees regularly teach courses in the students’ degree programmes and serve on the schools’ admission committees.
In addition, they often attend graduation ceremonies to meet new graduates.

  • Financial Partnerships
    • Apprenticeship tax
We support the development of technical and professional education in targeted universities and engineering and business schools by donating a portion of our apprenticeship tax. This contribution funds student internships and apprenticeship contracts at Bouygues Construction.
    • Event sponsorships
We occasionally sponsor events at schools, including galas, receptions, sports events and study trips.
    • Scholarships
We have traditionally provided financial support to certain candidates during the early years of higher education. We offer scholarships based on your objectives and the nature of your request.
We invite you to contact the School Relations manager at the Bouygues Construction Human Resources central office. The manager will determine to what extent your career goals are a good fit for our corporate objectives.

Feel free to contact us for any further information about our partnerships.

Local Programmes

  • Work site visits
In cooperation with schools and universities, we regularly organise visits to major Bouygues Construction work sites. These visits give post-graduate students a good opportunity to learn the nuts and bolts of an actual construction site and to develop initial contacts.
  • Employer presentations
Led by a human resources specialist, our career opportunities presentations give you a chance to learn more about our businesses and careers and to meet Bouygues Construction line managers who graduated from your school.
  • Job interview role-plays
We occasionally assist schools with the job interview role-plays and CV editing that they offer students.
Feel free to contact us  for any further information about our local programmes.

Campus Managers

For many years, School Relations has been a key factor in recruiting and retaining new graduates. The Bouygues Construction Challenge, career fairs, educational partnerships signed with our “target schools”, and our “local school programmes” all contribute to enhancing our appeal and our image as a benchmark employer.
To take this dynamic one step further, we have created a Network of Campus Managers comprised of alumni and liaisons at their schools. Bouygues Construction Campus Managers play an essential role in leading our efforts at target institutions. They conduct innovative programmes with each new class of students. They also serve as a special link between you – the students - and our company, providing us an excellent opportunity to get to know each other better. By providing first-hand accounts about Bouygues Construction’s jobs and culture, they guide you in your choice of career and ensure that our disciplines remain attractive.
