Internships

Every year we offer more than 2,000 internships across all our business lines – building, civil engineering, electrical contracting and maintenance, and our support functions – for students at engineering and business schools and universities.

If you join us you will become an integral part of one of our teams and will be given genuine responsibilities. Your time with Bouygues Construction will allow you to discover the world of building and civil engineering and gain valuable experience working alongside our experienced employees.

Internships may be continuous or form part of a sandwich course, and opportunities are available both in France and overseas. Internships are a fast-track to finding your first job: 40% of our new recruits are former interns!

Apprenticeships

Bouygues Construction is a signatory of the Apprenticeship Charter (in which major French companies undertake to offer apprenticeships), and offers apprenticeship contracts to a number of young people from business and management schools and universities. Most apprentices study at specific schools and universities with Bouygues Construction partners. Apprenticeships provide young people with a vocational education while increasing their chances of finding employment.

When you join us you will follow an induction course and will be assigned to one of our projects. We pay particular attention to tutorship: your tutors are specially trained and will be assigned to you for your entire apprenticeship, sharing their knowledge and experience with you on a daily basis.

International Volunteer Placements

The International Voluntary Service in Business programme (Volontariat International en Entreprise - VIE) arranges professional assignments abroad, under the supervision of French Embassies. It allows young people to gain professional experience in another country, and is a valuable starting point for any international career.

At Bouygues Construction, we offer between 50 and 60 VIE placements for young graduates. Locations will vary from year to year, depending on our international projects at the time (in 2006, placements were available in Russia, Finland, South Africa, Turkmenistan, Cuba, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore). Placements are available in works supervision, financial control or purchasing.

The VIE programme is run by Ubifrance (lien vers www.ubifrance.fr) (Agence française pour le développement international des entreprises). We are constantly recruiting, in all our operational entities and across all our business lines. In 2008, 7 000 new employees including 4500 in France and 1,500 at engineer and management level positions, will join the Group.
