Pierre, aged 36, financial controller
"You need to have a flair for teaching"A graduate of EDHEC business school, Pierre joined the Group in 1995. For the last four years he has been financial controller for the Bouygues holding company, Bouygues Construction SA.
"I am responsible for budgets and financing for some 40 operational departments, as well as the auditing of expenses for services shared by subsidiaries." The job requires good interpersonal contact, diplomacy and an ability to teach others in order to empower operational departments as much as possible, even though they do not always prioritise financial management.
Based at Challenger, Bouygues corporate headquarters, the position requires good knowledge of construction operations. "We need to stay close to the field," says Pierre. "Site visits help us understand people's motivation better and have a better grasp of our role in the organisation."
