ETDE gives a second chance to youngsters struggling in education
Under the future partnership agreement between Bouygues Construction and EPIDe*, ETDE is involved in the “Defence second chance” initiative as part of its commitment to responsible corporate citizenship.
November 15th 2007
Set up in August 2005 by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Employment and Social Cohesion, the initiative offers young people between the ages of 18 and 21 who have experienced, or are experiencing, difficulties within the education system, the opportunity to participate in a training programme designed to help them find employment and a place in society.
The youngsters, housed in accommodation centres, follow a general training programme for between 6 and 24 months, after which they undertake an initial “immersion” training period within a company, allowing the employer to assess trainees’ performance and help them ensure they are making the right job choice.
Following special “motivation” interviews, ETDE offers training to the most diligent youngsters who are most interested in its specialist fields. The initiative has already been successfully trialled in the Lyon region, and ETDE is planning to take on another young person on an immersion programme within its Utility Networks Division.
