Environmental impacts
Reduce the environmental impact of our businesses
Taking control of environmental impact depends on a prevention policy that is based on an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system (covering 84% of business).
- Creation of the Ecosite environmental label
I
n 2009, Bouygues Construction defined new environmental standards for its construction sites, stipulating measures to be adopted on 11 key themes (waste management, biodiversity, reducing nuisances, etc.). The standards apply to all entities, wherever they are situated, with adaptations for different businesses. An evaluation grid is used to check the level of implementation on each site of the actions recommended in the standards. Depending on the results obtained, the Ecosite label can be awarded to it. This policy gives Bouygues Construction teams and subcontractors ambitious and clearly stated environmental objectives to aim for. Rollout of the Ecosite label began in January 2010. The Group's employees are also made more aware through campaigns to promote eco-friendly actions and meetings on responsible consumption.
- Preservation of biodiversity
In the context of large infrastructure projects, particular attention is paid during the bidding process to the preservation of ecosystems. In-house expertise in biodiversity has been developed through an R&D programme and partnerships with external experts. The Group is also working on developing appropriate indicators for measuring the effect of actions undertaken with regard to protecting biodiversity.
