Carbon emissions

Reduce the Group’s carbon emissions.
40% of a building's CO2 emissions arise from its construction and 60% from its operation (2005 thermal regulations, lifespan 30 years, excluding journeys made by users).

Reduce CO2 emissions

The Group is focusing its actions to reduce its CO2 emissions on designing low-carbon buildings and on changing our organisation models and cutting back on our travelling.
  • CarbonEco®

In conjunction with Carbone 4, Bouygues Construction has devised CarbonEco®, a software package that calculates carbon emissions. Adapted to the construction industry, it makes it possible to work out the costings for green design alternatives intended to reduce CO2 emissions. 330 carbon audits have been performed since the tool was launched in March 2009. In-house experts are focusing on ensuring the buy-in of different specialities, with the aim of bringing it into use systematically on all projects in 2010 and instituting global carbon accounting.

  • Ecomobility

Journeys from home to work and workrelated travel account for a substantial portion of the Group's carbon impact. Numerous measures have been taken: lower-emission fleet vehicles, Excellium diesel fuel (supplied by Total), company travel plans in five subsidiaries and at Group headquarters, training in ecodriving, campaigns to make employees more aware of their fuel consumption.
