Skills volunteering agreement with the Emergency Architects Foundation

Bouygues Bâtiment International has just signed a skills volunteering agreement* with the Emergency Architects Foundation to allow Bouygues Bâtiment International volunteers to share their site knowledge in the field.
An Emergency Architects teamEmergency Architects, Architectes de l'urgence, is a non-profit organization that provides help after natural disasters (such as earthquakes or tsunamis) or armed conflict to make an initial assessment of the condition of buildings. After that, the association puts in place ongoing and sustainable reconstruction programs, in co-operation with local communities.

Today, most Emergency Architects volunteers are young architects or engineers and, although they have enormous enthusiasm, they do not always have much field experience. For this reason, Bouygues Bâtiment International is proposing to send the foundation volunteer staff who, because of their solid work site or design experience and their international know-how, will be able to train and organize both volunteers from Emergency Architects and local people involved in the project.

* A Skills Volunteering agreement is a support offered by a company.

Emergency Architects has been involved in 24 countries since 2001. They have reconstructed close to 6,000 homes, 47 schools, health centres and children's homes, etc.
Current programs are under way in Peru (following an earthquake), Columbia (with the FARC refugees), Chad (refugees), Afghanistan, the Solomon Islands and Indonesia (post-tsunami reconstruction).
