Bouygues Construction’s top priority is the health and safety of the teams who work on its construction sites. Aware of its responsibility, Bouygues Construction has decided to go one step further, introducing a standard based on 12 “basic rules” applied on all construction sites in all 80 countries where the Group is active. To mark its strong commitment, the Group is interrupting work today while it carries out an operation on an unparalleled scale: the World Health & Safety Day. Virtually all its construction sites will down tools for half a day so that employees and the personnel of partner companies – some 100,000 people in all – can be reminded of the Group’s health & safety priority and its drive to achieve “zero accidents”.

Since July 2016, Bureau Veritas, Setec Bâtiment, Agence Coste Architectures and Bouygues Construction have been working on a guide to new processes in BIM (digital modelling). The aim is to enable technical inspectors to give their assessment and for principal contractors to sign off directly on the digital model. The four partners are working alongside MediaConstruct (buildingSMART), the leading mover for openBIM standards in France. The goal: set up a dedicated task force to provide the processes for assessment and approvals using BIM.

Bouygues Construction has been certified by the Top Employers Institute. The label, which is awarded following a rigorous survey of processes and an audit, recognises the quality of the human resources practices that the company has made available to its employees. These cover the working environment, the development of talents, the optimisation of HR practices, etc.

EDF has awarded a contract to Bouygues Travaux Publics, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, in a consortium with the British company Laing O’Rourke, for the construction of the buildings that will house the two EPR (European Pressurised Reactor) nuclear reactors at Hinkley Point C in the United Kingdom. Bouygues Construction’s share of this contract will amount to at least €1.7 billion.
