12 “basic rules” for everybody
With a view to going further in developing a culture of safety and prevention of accidents, the Group has put in place a set of 12 “basic rules”” that are applicable to all our businesses, across the world, to guarantee safety for all. Drugs and alcohol, individual safety equipment, traffic, briefings, risk analysis, equipment, etc. – these safety standards, which have been put together based on information on best practices gathered from the different entities, will enable improved consistency and a common standard of excellence. They will be supplemented by ongoing prevention actions by staff and an extended training programme.
With a strong message: “We Love Life, We Protect It”, a poster campaign will set out these rules very clearly, establishing a parallel between professional and personal situations. It will be rolled out and presented on all sites, in France and abroad, over the coming twelve months.
Safety is a culture that must be developed and shared
A culture of safety is more than a commitment, it is a state of mind that must be continuously present among all of the 100,000 people who work every day on the Group’s production sites (50,000 employees and 50,000 partners and subcontractors). Safety has always been the number-one priority at Bouygues Construction, to ensure that employees work under optimal conditions wherever they are in the world, and to enable a reduction in accident rates on our sites. Dedicated safety days and prevention actions have already been implemented in the entities with one, single aim: to raise awareness of the necessity for an individual and collective commitment to safety.
With the roll-out of the “We Love Life, We Protect It” campaign, in the 80 countries where it has a presence, the Group is reaffirming its belief that “zero accidents” is an achievable objective and that nothing can be left to chance when it comes to health and safety.
The World Health & Safety Day: a first at Bouygues Construction
As part of the launch of the 12 “basic rules” and to increase accountability among all stakeholders, a Health & Safety Day has been organised for 13 June. It will feature events at all the Group’s sites: news segments, symbolic actions, hazard hunting, dedicated workshops (addictions, behaviour, working at a height, etc.).
