Women are on the move in Building and Civil Works!
Although construction remains a predominantly male environment, the mind-set is changing and endeavours to promote gender equality are increasing.
Bouygues Construction wants to facilitate the integration of women into the sector, which is why it participated in the very first Girls on the Move Day on 8 March organised by the Elles Bougent association—a Bouygues Construction partner. It was a great day during which the young ladies who participated had the chance to look around and learn about our business lines, inciting them to consider jobs in the field. Take a look at the photos from this wonderful event.
Several months ago, Bouygues Construction and its Welink women’s network partnered with the “Elles Bougent” association so that our female engineers and technicians could take part in raising awareness amongst female university and secondary school students. Fifty “patrons”, all of them female engineers, took part in the “Girls on the Move” event on 8 March, with the aim of helping these young women to discover occupations traditionally seen as masculine.
The event programme included visits by 230 female secondary school and university students to some of the Group’s construction projects, such as Qua4drans in Paris, the Hotel Packard in Cuba, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao bridge, the CFC Tower in Casablanca, in addition to discussions with female employees from Bouygues Construction that set the tempo of the day.
As Bouygues Construction's corporate foundation, Terre Plurielle provides financial support to projects sponsored by employees who are actively involved in the areas of education, employment and healthcare Since it was first established in 2008, in excess of 200 projects have received support, sponsored by almost 250 employees.
Intrapreneurial strategies, which consist of giving time to employees who have an idea for developing an innovative, end-to-end project with help, are now growing and winning over more and more companies.
Since 2006, Bouygues Energies & Services has raised the awareness of over 900 managers and employees and carried out over 400 actions to help people with disabilities stay employed. In France, the staff currently counts 343 people with disabilities.
Alain Hurel and Thomas Devallez, the HR managers of the sea extension project in the port of Calais, share their experience with their joint job insertion efforts in the context of this construction site.
Disability employment week will take place between the 14 and 20 November. During this time, we will be looking to reaffirming our commitments in relation to disability, and highlighting some of the actions carried out. Our subsidiary, Bouygues Energies & Services, the first company in its sector to have signed a disability agreement, is committed […]
Bouygues Construction and Centrale Lille formed Chaire Construction 4.0 in 2017. Its aim was to support the digitisation and industrialisation of the sector. Thomas Danel, a PhD student in this field, has been working on a prototype for a remote-controlled crane. He talked to us about his project.
The days have been getting longer over the last few weeks in France, but temperatures remain stubbornly low. In these conditions, working outside can be difficult. The cold creates health and safety risks at construction sites. Now, more than ever, prevention and vigilance are essential.
