To start the year in style, Bouygues Construction invites you to a change of scenery, through the most beautiful projects and construction initiated in 2016!
January – Linkcity launches Serendicity : At the Paris-Saclay campus, Linkcity is developing the biggest student housing project currently under way in France. The project: to construct 8 buildings (900 units total) to house 1,082 students. The project was developed in a record-breaking nine months. It is already in the construction phase.
Fébruary – The Louvre Post Office : an iconic in the 1st Arrondissement, in the heart of Paris, a building forming part of the La Poste group’s property portfolio, is preparing for a vast renovation programme. 32 months of works will be required to transform the building, which will operate as of 2018 as a mixed-use development (postal activities, shops, apartments, public facilities, hotel, etc.).
March – Bouygues Construction hands over the largest photovoltaic farm in South-East Asia : Bouygues Energies & Services, BYME and VSL, all subsidiaries of Bouygues Construction, have delivered the largest solar farm in South-East Asia, with total output of 132 MWc, on Negros Island in the Philippines.
April – Alto Tower, La Défense : Designed by IF Architectes, the Alto Tower, which will be 150 metres tall, will provide 38 floors of high-class office space with total floor space of 51,000 m². It will stand out from neighbouring towers thanks to its glass-scale facade and to its bold architectural design.
May – Terre d’avenir : Terre Plurielle, the Bouygues Construction corporate foundation, has launched a programme called “Terre d’Avenir” (Land of Opportunity) to boost the involvement of employees in initiatives relating to education and employment. This initiative reflects Group’s desire to contribute actively to the life of the communities in which it operates.
June – Stade Vélodrome : The teams successfully met the challenge of running the site while the stadium was in full activity. Throughout the entire period of site works, up to 42,000 spectators attended matches under the very best conditions of safety and comfort. Over the three years, the site schedule had to be adapted to the football calendar, taking full account of the Ligue 1 fixture list and European Cup ties.
July – Successful end to the structural work on the future Paris Law Courts : After 25 months of work, a ceremony on 22 July marked the completion of the structural work by raising the flag on the exceptional construction site of the future Paris Law Courts.
August – Bouygues Construction launches works on the monaco offshore extension project : The project includes the construction of an eco-neighbourhood primarily consisting of housing (60,000 m²), public facilities, an extension to the Grimaldi Forum, a public car park, a marina with pedestrian wharves, a landscaped park, a seafront promenade and a shaded, planted walkway running the length of the Japanese Garden.
September – Mahanakhon, the tallest building of Thailand (314-metre-high), was officially launched with lights and sounds shows in Bangkok on 30 August.
October – First stay cable in place at Mersey Gateway : It took 12 hours to install the 52m-long cable at the 125-high south pylon
November – Unique engineering feat concluded as Chernobyl arch has reached resting place : Ceremony marks key milestone in international project to transform site of 1986 accident. A ceremony in Chernobyl today marked the successful conclusion of the sliding operation, a key milestone before the finalisation of the international programme to transform Chernobyl into an environmentally safe and secure state by November 2017.
Décember – La Seine Musicale hoists its sail : he ropes are cast off and the solar sail assumes its position on the Meudon side. Following a series of static tests, the teams successfully began the first kinematic tests on the sail. This 45-m high, 200 tonne structure moves at a speed of almost 5 m a minute. This is a real technical challenge, the only one of its kind in the world. La Seine Musicale is sailing towards the finish line.
