To improve the subpar signal in the ten French stadiums hosting matches for the competition, the four French operators forged a partnership committed to bringing quality cellular network coverage to these locations. As such, Bouygues Telecom appointed Axione to handle the 2G, 3G and 4G coverage of the stands and boxes at Parc des Princes.
“Axione is now providing its digital expertise on this very complex project, which necessitates studies and a variety of skill sets,” explains Gauthier Nanoux, Axione’s Regional Director for Northeast Ile de France.
Expertise in the installation of telecom network infrastructures
More than forty years after the Group built the stadium, the Axione teams brought the structure into the digital era with:
– the installation of 28 antennae to provide coverage in the seating areas,
– the installation of another 16 indoor antennae to distribute coverage to the boxes,
– the construction of a 200 m² underground technical room that complies with regulations and thermal, electrical, climate and structural requirements for housing work stations with active components, and
– the design/installation of a fibre optic network linking and transmitting data between the technical room and the antennae.
The construction began mid-November 2015 and ended mid-May 2016, enabling operators to adjust antenna settings before the championships in order to achieve the best possible coverage. Axione will maintain and operate this infrastructure in collaboration with Bouygues Energies & Services.
