After the contracts for the Fort d’Issy-Vanves-Clamart station (lot T3B) and the T2A section between Villejuif and Créteil, respectively won in February 2016 and February 2017, the Société du Grand Paris has entrusted Bouygues Travaux Publics with a third lot of line 15 South of the Grand Paris Express: lot T3A.
This comprises:
- civil engineering work for two stations: Issy RER and Pont de Sèvres,
- excavating a 4.2-km long single-tube tunnel,
- excavating the TBM access shaft and work on three ancillary structures.
A conditional section is scheduled in the contract for the construction of a pedestrian & cycling walkway linking Pont de Sèvres station with Ile Seguin (Seine Musicale), in Boulogne-Billancourt.
Pont de Sèvres Station
In Boulogne-Billancourt, a municipality bordering on Paris, the Pont de Sèvres station will be situated on the Georges Gorse Seine quayside. It will consequently be partially built in the Seine waterfront, at a depth of 34 metres. This will be a particularly constrictive environment where Bouygues Travaux Publics teams will have to show all their riverwork know-how and expertise.
In a high-density urban setting, where high-rise buildings have deep foundations, excavating line 15 South is a major technical challenge. There are also old quarries along the path which will be filled in before the TBM can go through. These two factors mean that we have to dig down to over 40 metres in places, while the Paris underground is on average 10 metres beneath ground surface.
Grand Paris Express Line 15 South: target 2022
The 8 lots of line 15 South of the Grand Paris are now all allocated. It will consequently be the first new line to enter service and should benefit over one million people in Ile de France with over 300,000 daily journeys.
Line 15 South constitutes the first section of the automatic underground around Paris. It will “desaturate” public transport networks and provide efficient links with counties in the close surroundings by meshing with existing local transport systems.
Bouygues Travaux Publics will thus be taking part in excavating 11.95 km of the 33 km linking the Pont de Sèvres Station in the West of Paris with Noisy-Champs in the East and will be constructing seven of the sixteen stations along this line.
