A demonstration housing complex
The Cœur Madeleine residence brings together seniors, students, young professionals, adults with disabilities, and single-parent families in the heart of Angers in a single intergenerational residence with 82 apartments and services. While this innovative and socially responsible housing project is a model of diversity and inclusivity, it also serves as a showcase for the buildings of tomorrow.
During the demolition phase of the former Noisetiers nursing home, a large-scale circular economy operation, in collaboration with the Matière Grise association, enabled just over 20 tons of materials to be removed and reused. The creation of a participatory construction site enabled tenants, individuals, and associations to remove slate cladding tiles, wooden planks, mirrors, taps, doors, radiators, light fixtures, sanitary facilities, handrails, etc.
During the reconstruction phase, the construction team conducted an experiment with Hoffmann Green Cement by building all the building's facade walls with concrete made from H-UKR cement. 500 m³ of concrete was poured, representing a saving of 57.80 tons of CO₂ compared to “standard” concrete.
