Our role in environmental transition

At Bouygues Construction, ‘building for life’ is more than just a slogan – it’s our mission. Every day, at every level of the company, we make every effort to address the challenges of ecological transition by focusing on reducing our environmental impact.

Building sustainably for tomorrow's society

As builders, it's our responsibility to help make the shift to a low-carbon society. We're committed to driving decarbonisation in our industry through concrete actions:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption generated by our construction sites and projects.
  • Promoting the use of low-carbon, bio-based and recycled materials, while promoting circularity through the reuse of materials and waste reduction.
  • Designing resilient and energy-efficient infrastructure in line with climate change challenges.
  • Protecting and restoring biodiversity by implementing solutions that respect living organisms, from design to completion.

Building momentum throughout our ecosystem

Achieving environmental excellence is a team effort! That’s why we work closely with our partners and suppliers to:

  • Promote the development of innovative construction methods and materials for the future,
  • Establish strict environmental requirements at every stage, starting from the initial design phase,
  • Develop low-carbon offerings based on nature, supporting our clients’ decarbonisation strategies and the ecological transition at regional level.

Skills, metrics and transparency

To support our commitments and empower our employees to play an active role in the environmental transition, we have implemented a number of tools and systems, such as:

  • In-house training on environmental topics and sharing best practices.
  • Implementation of measurement and monitoring tools (TopSite label, carbon management cycle, certified reporting, etc.) to continuously improve our performance: carbon footprint, water management, waste management, recycling, biodiversity preservation, etc.
  • Governance aligned with the highest international standards (Taxonomy, SBTi, CDP*, etc.) and specific targets for 2030.
