A 10-year partnership in student living
Bouygues UK delivered The Pastures, Phase 3 of the University of Essex's comprehensive student accommodation scheme, comprising 1,262 new bedrooms built and operational for the start of the 2023/24 academic year. This landmark project represents the culmination of a 10-year partnership with the University, following the successful delivery of Phase 1, The Meadows (648 bedrooms) in 2013 and Phase 2, The Copse (643 bedrooms) in 2018, demonstrating sustained excellence and continuous, robust performance aligned with the University's evolving expectations.
This multifaceted engagement encompasses financing, construction, operations, and strategic planning. Working through Essex3 LLP - a joint venture with global investor Equitix (80%) and Bouygues UK (20%) - the company executed a design, build, finance and operate agreement with the University of Essex. Bouygues group sister company Equans now operates the residences under a 50-year term following practical completion.
