High-performance hydroelectric infrastructure
We have over 50 years’ experience of delivering dams and penstocks that provide renewable, reliable and locally generated energy.

Expertise and innovation
We apply precision engineering and site-specific solutions to the most demanding environments, from mountains to coastlines.

Dam and penstock engineering
We design hydroelectric structures that meet demanding safety and durability requirements.
Close coordination between civil and mechanical engineering ensures the performance of the facilities while also preserving biodiversity.

A range of complex projects
From the James Bay Dam in Canada (350 m long, 355,000 m³ of concrete) to the Pragnères penstock in the Pyrenees, we deliver projects in challenging environments.
Each construction site benefits from an optimised organisation and proven expertise.

Tailored, sustainable solutions
We design site-specific solutions such as fish passages, precision regulation systems, penstocks rebuilt on cliffs and dykes with integrated eco-reefs. Our solutions balance energy performance with the protection of ecosystems.

Control over the full lifecycle
We oversee every stage of a hydroelectric facility’s lifecycle, from construction to maintenance and renovation.
Our primary objectives are ensuring reliable energy production and extending the service life of structures.
Do you have a project?
Let's discuss it.
Hydroelectricity plays a central role in our contribution to the energy transition. We design and build infrastructure that harnesses the power of water: dams, penstocks, canals and locks. The construction of these structures requires the most precise control of construction and close coordination between mechanical engineering and civil works.
Our track record demonstrates our expertise in this area: the James Bay Dam in Canada was delivered under extreme climatic conditions, and the Pragnères penstock in the Pyrenees was rebuilt over 800 metres at an altitude of 2,200 metres.

We support public authorities and industrial operators in implementing strategic projects, whether strengthening a region’s energy security or integrating environmental measures such as fish passages and sediment management. -
Our added value is based on our comprehensive expertise, which covers everything from initial design to renovation, while reducing carbon emissions and optimising resource use.

Construction of a 350-metre-long dam under extreme conditions.

As part of a maintenance framework project to prolong the serviceable life of a major water pipeline in Kangaroo Valley, New South Wales, VSL replaced 190 bearings at 47 support locations along the pipeline’s 2.5-kilometre-length.
