Dragages Hong Kong & Dragages Macau
A sculptural icon redefining luxury hospitality
Delivered by Dragages Hong Kong & Dragages Macau, subsidiaries of Bouygues Bâtiment International, Morpheus, named after the God of Dreams, stands as the new architectural signature of the City of Dreams resort in Macau. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the 150,000 m² tower merges avant-garde aesthetics with breakthrough engineering, creating one of the world’s first free-form exoskeleton high-rise structures.
The 39-storey hotel offers:
- 780 rooms, suites & villas
- Fine-dining restaurants
- A 35 m-high atrium
- A rooftop pool
- A luxury gaming experience
At the core of its identity lies its external exoskeleton, which wraps three vast voids carved through the tower. This approach eliminates internal columns and opens spectacular panoramic volumes, an unprecedented achievement in hotel design.
Dragages Macau delivered both the structure and the façade. The engineering challenge was exceptional:
- 4,500 tonnes of steel were needed just for the temporary works.
- The central voids soar 126 metres high.
- Complex sequences of de-propping were required to stabilise the exoskeleton.
This fusion of architecture and engineering gives Morpheus its futuristic presence — a building that seems sculpted by movement and light, instantly immersing visitors into a world shaped by imagination and innovation.

Precision engineering shaping a new hospitality experience
Creating Morpheus required an exceptional level of technical coordination and digital precision. Every element of its complex geometry was modeled and aligned using advanced BIM technologies, ensuring perfect coherence between design intentions, prefabrication and on-site execution.
To support this complexity, Dragages Macau deployed innovative digital tools throughout the project. One of the most impactful was SnagR, a mobile platform that enabled teams to record safety and environmental observations directly from the field.
Key dimensions of the engineering approach included:
- Full BIM integration for geometry, sequencing and prefabrication
- Real-time digital reporting supporting safety and quality controls
- Advanced coordination between design teams, factories and site operations
Beyond its technical achievements, Morpheus offers an elevated hospitality experience shaped by sculptural spaces, generous natural light and refined contemporary interiors. The result is a destination where architecture and emotion meet, transforming each stay into a unique experience.
