Greece’s tallest tower, shaping Athens’ new waterfront skyline
Bouygues Bâtiment International, together with Greek partner AKTOR, has been chosen to build The Riviera Tower, a striking 200-metre residential building located on the Athens waterfront. Designed by renowned architectural firm Foster + Partners, this 50-storey tower is at the heart of “The Ellenikon” - Europe’s largest urban regeneration programme - transforming the former Athens International Airport site and adjacent Olympic areas into a model of sustainable and economic development.
The Riviera Tower, set to become Greece’s tallest building, will feature 169 high-end apartments. Nature is woven into the project, with a focus on both the landscape around the building and green features within the tower itself, harmonising aesthetics, resident wellbeing, and biodiversity.
Bouygues Bâtiment International’s teams face complex engineering challenges, balancing technical expertise with the aesthetic ambitions of an iconic tower. The Riviera Tower is targeting LEED Gold certification, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainability and low-carbon construction. New cement and concrete formulations, co-developed with local suppliers, support ambitious environmental goals.
