Demolition and rebuilding of a pier

A fishing port home to around sixty vessels that unload 10,000 tons of fish and shellfish each year, the port of Erquy is a hub of the maritime economy for the Brittany region. To successfully complete the renovation and expansion project commissioned by the Côtes d’Armor department, it was necessary to carry out the demolition of the existing breakwater—which had been damaged by the elements—and the construction of the replacement breakwater simultaneously, without compromising the port’s protection against swells.

This extension provides an additional 4 hectares of water and new quays. To minimize the impact of the construction site on road traffic, particularly during the summer period, a concrete plant was installed on site and materials were transported by sea from nearby quarries. Tinted concrete, reminiscent of the colors of the Pink Granite Coast, was used.
