VSL
A robust stockpile wall for a major Chilean copper mine
The Quebrada Blanca Phase 2 project is one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper resources, with a planned mine life of 28 years and strong potential for future expansion. As part of the development of a new processing plant and related facilities, main contractor EIMISA selected VSL Chile to build a new stockpile wall.
The structure consists of 151 precast concrete segments, assembled and tensioned on site to form a strong circular wall — only the second of its kind in Chile to use this post-tensioned precast design.
To meet the project’s technical and environmental challenges, VSL engineered a solution that ensures long-term stability and seismic resistance, crucial in this highly active region.
