Building for life:

more than a slogan

Target: zero serious accidents

Every day, all over the world, we have one overriding concern: to guarantee a safe work environment for everyone who takes part in our projects, whether they are employees, temporary staff, subcontractors or partners.

Our absolute priority is the health and safety of those on our sites and in our offices.

Our ambition is clear: zero serious accidents. This target applies to every construction site and workplace and is non-negotiable. From design through to construction, it implies rigorous work and methodical risks analyses, anticipation, training and supervision.

A comprehensive system

  • A policy founded on values

The basis of our Health, Safety & Security policy, led by senior executives and implemented by 600 professionals dedicated to risk prevention, is a comprehensive system tailored to field conditions and continuously improved by best practices.

At its core, the system focuses on the physical and mental wellbeing of the people working on our projects.

  • Focusing on what matters most

We concentrate our efforts on controlling the six major risks responsible for 80% of serious accidents: lifting, work at height, structural stability, vehicle/pedestrian traffic, hazardous energy sources and powered production equipment.

For each of these, we apply standards that are often more stringent than existing regulations and which allow us to act with regard to technical, organisational, managerial and human factors at the same time.

Ten vital rules complement these standards, acting as a final barrier against serious accidents.

  • Safety Leaders

We are convinced that Safety is everyone’s responsibility. This is a mindset, a way of viewing a construction site and the shared vigilance each individual guarantees regardless of profession, seniority, country or rank.

Every employee is encouraged to become a Safety Leader and to embody our safety culture in their daily work habits through responsible actions and exemplary behaviour.

    Protecting our employees’ health

Health is a major challenge that is becoming increasingly important in our workplaces. We run regular campaigns to prevent psychosocial risks in our teams, whether on our sites or in our offices.

Furthermore, we make concerted efforts in innovation to find ways of making tasks less strenuous and prevent the risks of occupational illnesses through the use of exoskeletons, robots and ergonomic materials.

    Preventing all types of risks

In an environment where external risks to our professional activities are taking increasingly varied forms, we are adopting an uncompromising Security policy.

Under the direction of experienced professionals, this policy is in place in all the countries in which we operate to protect our teams from risks of hacking, data theft, fraud and other malicious acts associated with the environment in which we operate.

    Complying with requirements

Rules only serve a purpose if they are respected. That’s why we perform controls and carry out regular audits (independently of production teams) to ensure that our procedures, methods and standards are known and applied at all our work sites, whatever their size or location. Failure to comply will result in sanctions.

Actions for everyone, everywhere, at every level

Nothing can be left to chance when it comes to safety.

That is why we pull out all the stops to achieve a real, tangible and sustainable impact through training programmes for each profession, hands-on workshops with our partners, targeted awareness-raising campaigns and regular internal communication to maintain a high level of vigilance.

Also, every year during Safety Week, all the company’s employees without exception take part in an event focusing on the safety issues facing our professions.

Daily commitment to the

cause of safety

Our safety culture is visible every day in our projects through rituals like morning warm-ups, safety briefings before starting work and strict application of the ‘STOP’ rule as soon as a dangerous situation is identified.

Our employees don’t see safety as a restriction; it is second nature to them.

Beyond these measures, we encourage whistleblowing, shared vigilance and the exchange of information between teams, so everyone feels they are acting responsibly to ensure their own and their colleagues’ safety.
