Situated in Paris’ 18th arrondissement, the Lourcine Barracks, former Parisian military site built in 1875, will soon be transformed into a university facility. There will be a boarding house for prep-school pupils studying to gain admittance to the elite Grandes Ecoles, and a university centre. L’EPAURIF (public development agency for universities in the Ile-de-France region) has entrusted Bouygues Bâtiment Ile de France’s operating unit, Ouvrages Publics, with the renovation of two buildings and an extension, including an outdoor theatre. This work will be carried out in collaboration with architect Chartier Dalix and EGIS Bâtiment as project coordination team. The project aims to promote Parisian cultural heritage through a subtle intervention which will protect traces of the place’s history and preserve as much of the existing spaces as possible.
