Jersey government awards Bouygues Construction a contract for new Overdale Acute Hospital

Bouygues UK was designated as the preferred bidder by the Government of Jersey in November 2025. Over the following seven months, the company worked with the NHFP teams to finalise the commercial agreements, review technical specifications and prepare for the works to begin.  Construction will begin later this year as development plans draw to a close, and the new facility is scheduled to open in 2030.  

The Overdale Acute Hospital, covering a total area of 47,500 m², will include an Emergency Department, six operating theatres, inpatient beds, intensive care beds and a mother and baby unit. The project’s environmental impact will also be a top priority, with a focus on optimised design, energy efficiency and low-carbon materials, as well as a biodiversity net gain of more than 10 %. 

One of the project’s main challenges will be addressing the specific logistical considerations linked to a large, complex scheme, as well as accommodating the estimated 800 people working on site at peak times.
