Safety inspection at the Vandellòs II power plant
The Vandellòs II power plant, located on the Mediterranean coast, must be inspected every five years to ensure that its containment building complies with regulations. Following the regulatory assessment, the operator ANAV entrusted VSL with inspecting the prestressing system.
The teams followed the procedures defined by the client: verification of the cables by controlled lifting, partial opening of the tendons, grease sampling, corrosion analysis, and re-tensioning after inspection.
Before working on site, VSL calibrated the instruments, tested the equipment, and provided the necessary training to work in a nuclear zone.
On site, inspections focused on the concrete, sheaths, and cables. The selected tendons were checked and then retensioned once the analyses had been carried out. The work carried out reinforces the safety of a structure that is essential to the region's power supply.

Our projects

Flamanville EPR
In the Manche department, Bouygues Travaux Publics carried out the earthworks and civil engineering for EDF on the first EPR reactor built in France.

Hinkley Point C EPR
Construction of two EPR reactors in the UK, supplying 7% of national electricity. A project of exceptional scale.

Nuclear Power Plant Vandellòs II
VSL carried out maintenance works on the containment building, which is the outer shield of the nuclear reactor.

Olkiluoto EPR
On the shores of the Baltic Sea in western Finland, our teams have built the world's first EPR.
