Bouygues Travaux Publics
Ypsilon, a legacy for Istria
Bordering the Adriatic Sea, Istria, which covers 2,820 square kilometres, is Croatia's largest peninsula. In this north-western region, highly prized for its rich natural heritage, Bouygues Travaux Publics has been involved for nearly 30 years in the construction and widening of a 100-kilometre 2x2-lane motorway.
This Y-shaped infrastructure, which connects the towns of Umag (on the Slovenian border) and Rijeka to the southern tip of Pula via Kanfanar, has transformed the face of the region. It has also contributed to its economic development by improving mobility for residents and the millions of visitors who travel to the peninsula each year.

A major project carried out in successive phases
For this seven-phase project, Bouygues Travaux Publics carried out earthworks and infrastructure drainage works, built 77 engineering structures, including a 1,400-metre-long viaduct, and restored communications and access with 12 interchanges.
Notable achievements in the two most recent phases of the project include: the doubling of 12 kilometres of motorway between the Ucka tunnel and Matulji; the doubling of the Limska Draga viaduct, built on piers over 100 metres high; and the doubling of the 1,376-metre-long Mirna viaduct, built on floating piles.
