Soil restoration for agricultural purposes

The L’Aunette project in Ris-Orangis involves the reclamation of 8 hectares of land, 7 of which are intended for agricultural use. A preliminary soil study revealed significant heterogeneity in the terrain, localized absence of topsoil, and the presence of limestone blocks from old fill material. To make the plots suitable for agricultural production, a soil reclamation solution using technosol was implemented.

This approach relies on the addition of excavated soil from other construction sites, rigorously selected based on their physicochemical characteristics. The implementation of a technosol, combining horizontal and vertical stratifications, allows for the reconstruction of the various soil horizons and the recreation of an agronomic profile suitable for agricultural use.

The work includes clearing and de-stoning the site, setting aside and reusing the existing topsoil, bringing in and managing compatible natural inert soil, shaping the reconstructed horizons, and amending the soil. This approach has made it possible to reuse 200,000 tons of excavated soil, reducing waste disposal and associated transportation, in line with a controlled reuse strategy.

Un vaste chantier ensoleillé présente une route en terre traversant des zones de sol beige et brun, avec des excavateurs et des camions travaillant au loin sous un ciel bleu parsemé de nuages blancs.
