BYMARO
A new landmark for healthcare and education in Morocco
BYMARO, the Moroccan subsidiary of Bouygues Bâtiment International, delivered the Mohammed VI International University Hospital Complex in Rabat: a project of national significance and a benchmark for the region. Inaugurated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the hospital sets a new standard in healthcare, education, and sustainable design.
Spanning 280,000 m², the complex features four six-storey buildings and a landmark 25-storey tower, accommodating advanced medical and teaching facilities. It offers 600 beds and 24 operating theatres, including 19 integrated operating suites equipped for hybrid and robotic procedures. The hospital supports 143 intensive care beds, 30 neonatal incubators, and specialised units for burns and hyperbaric treatment, the only facility of its kind in Morocco.
The campus unites around 30 medical and surgical specialties, serving a broad spectrum from robotic surgery to high-precision radiotherapy. On the education side, the facility provides 15 lecture theatres with 4,000 seats, 72 teaching rooms, and 217 practical work rooms, supporting up to 8,000 students with state-of-the-art technology.
This integrated approach to care, teaching, research, and innovation makes the Mohammed VI Hospital a reference for future university hospitals in Morocco.

A fast-tracked, sustainable flagship project
Completed in a record 24 months, the Mohammed VI International University Hospital brought together up to 4,500 workers and a network of local partners. Rigorous planning, integrated project management, and collaborative teamwork enabled delivery on schedule, despite the scale and technical complexity.
Environmental responsibility was a core pillar of the project. The hospital incorporates low-carbon materials and optimised energy design, reducing CO₂ emissions by over 40% compared to similar projects. More than 8,800 m² of photovoltaic panels provide around 10% of the site’s total energy, supporting its HQE “Exceptional” certification for both hospital and teaching facilities.
In addition to advanced healthcare, the complex includes spaces for academic disciplines such as medicine, pharmacy, health engineering, and nursing, supporting Morocco’s wider health ecosystem and creating opportunities for the next generation. The project stands as a model of excellence in care, training, innovation, and sustainable development.
