Expansion of a wastewater treatment plant

The Seine-Amont wastewater treatment plant in Valenton is a key component of the Paris metropolitan area's wastewater treatment system, operated by the SIAAP (Syndicat interdépartemental d'assainissement de l'agglomération parisienne). Its expansion has increased its treatment capacity from 300,000 to 600,000 m3 per day in dry weather. Carried out by a consortium of which Bouygues Travaux Publics was a member, the civil engineering work for this project included the construction of two rectangular basins 200 meters long and 80 meters wide, ten circular basins 60 meters in diameter, and eight technical water treatment buildings.

This meticulously coordinated project was carried out on 60 hectares by 750 workers at peak times. Since the work was completed, the plant has had the daily capacity to treat 1,500,000 m³ of excess water during rainy weather, significantly improving the quality of the water discharged into the Seine.
