Goorambat East Solar Farm

Neoen and Bouygues Construction Australia have partnered to build the largest solar farm to date in Victoria. Over 500,000 solar panels have been installed across the 630 hectare farm situated near the town of Goorambat.

The project involves the construction, commissioning, and operation of a 250 MW solar farm that aims to generate more affordable and reliable, clean energy for Victorian homes and businesses. When operational the solar farm will generate enough energy to power 105,000 homes. It will also help save 558,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.

In a first for Australia, parts of the installation process (including piling and mounting the solar panels) were carried out by robotic machinery. That automation allows for faster, more precise construction, reducing costs and minimising the safety risks typically associated with large-scale builds.

Goorambat Solar Farm consists of:

• 83 inverters to convert DC to AC power
• 5268 kilometres of cables
• 4978 trackers that move the panels to face the sun
• Over 76,000 piles
• Over 500,000 solar panels

Construction commenced in October 2024, with peak workforce activity during 2024-2025. The project was commissioned in mid 2026 and is expected to be fully operational in 2027.

Over 40,000 trees have been planted around the farm, and many areas protected due to their environmental and cultural significance.
