VCES
A modernised tram depot supporting Prague’s mobility network
VCES, subsidiary of Bouygues Bâtiment International delivered the reconstruction and expansion of a tram depot in Prague, to strengthen the city’s public transport infrastructure through upgraded maintenance capacity and modern operational facilities.
At the heart of the project, new halls were built for the parking and maintenance of up to 61 tram vehicles, each up to 32 metres long. A dedicated maintenance hall includes eight fully equipped workstations for tram repairs, while the washing and daily treatment hall was completely refurbished. Three additional new buildings were constructed to support the servicing, repair and washing of maintenance vehicles.
The project also included the renovation and extension of the existing operations building with driver facilities. A new structure was added, housing a garage, workshops and storage spaces. Extensive site works were delivered, including 4 km of new track, 6 km of overhead line, new roads, walkways, utility relocations, site lighting, retaining walls, fencing, and landscaping.
Environmental features were integrated into the development, including photovoltaic panels, green roofs, and rainwater reuse, contributing to improved operational performance and sustainability of the site.
