Higher Education Campus in the heart of Bordeaux
Located at the heart of the Bordeaux Euratlantique national development project, the François d’Assise Campus is a new hub dedicated to higher education, training, and helping young people transition into the workforce.
Developed by Linkcity, this nearly 8,600-square-meter complex houses several educational institutions and facilities, including the JUNIA engineering school, ISFEC Aquitaine for teacher training, the École de la Deuxième Chance, and an apprenticeship training center. The site also houses the offices of the Diocesan Directorate of Catholic Education for Gironde, as well as a co-living student residence.
Designed as an open and collaborative learning environment, the campus offers innovative educational spaces that encourage experimentation and group work: a fablab, class-lab, learning center, and technology demonstration areas.
This structure encourages interaction among students from diverse backgrounds and strengthens ties with the local economy.
With a capacity for over 1,000 students, the campus stands as a key facility for the development of higher education and vocational training in Bordeaux.

A low-carbon campus with a wood-concrete structure
The François d’Assise Campus stands out for its ambitious environmental design, which features a hybrid wood-concrete structure and the use of numerous bio-based materials—a collaborative effort carried out with ELAN. Nearly half of the building’s structural volume is made of wood sourced from sustainably managed French forests and processed locally.
This construction approach reduces the project’s carbon footprint while enabling faster construction with fewer disturbances.
Certified BREEAM Very Good and labeled Bio-based Building Level 3, the complex illustrates the project stakeholders’ commitment to sustainable and responsible construction.
The outdoor spaces were also designed to enhance the campus’s quality of life, featuring a landscaped plaza and tree-lined terraces connecting the building to the Armagnac neighborhood park.
Completed in just 18 months, this project demonstrates the ability to rapidly deliver a complex educational facility while balancing innovation, environmental performance, and urban integration.
