Expanding acute healthcare services for Western Sydney
A W Edwards, the Australian subsidiary of Bouygues Bâtiment International, delivered the Blacktown Hospital Acute Services Building, a major healthcare facility located within the Blacktown Hospital Acute Services Building precinct in Western Sydney.
Rising nine storeys, the new building significantly expands the hospital’s capacity, providing state-of-the-art acute medical services to meet the growing needs of the local community. The project includes a new central atrium, bridge links and tunnel connections seamlessly integrating the facility with existing hospital buildings.
The Blacktown Hospital Acute Services Building accommodates emergency and intensive care units, operating theatres and clinical suites, while more than doubling local services for maternity and paediatric care. Purpose-built wards are dedicated to birthing, maternity, women’s health and newborn services, alongside new paediatric facilities offering emergency care, day stay and inpatient services.
Designed with patient comfort in mind, the building includes carer zones allowing parents and caregivers to remain close to patients, including overnight stays. Delivered in 2019, the project strengthens Blacktown Hospital’s role as a key healthcare hub for Western Sydney.
