A new rehabilitation facility for the South Moravian Region

VCES, a subsidiary of Bouygues Bâtiment International, delivered the Pálava Sanatorium in Pasohlávky, Czech Republic, a new rehabilitation facility designed to strengthen healthcare capacity across the South Moravian Region.

Developed over two years under a Design & Build contract, the sanatorium supports patients recovering from serious injuries, major surgery and neurological conditions. It is designed in particular for patients recovering from severe head and spinal injuries and strokes, providing specialised rehabilitation services alongside advanced technologies, including robotic systems for movement recovery.

Set within a green environment, the facility also makes use of the local sulphur thermal spring as part of its rehabilitation offering. More than 110 healthcare professionals are expected to work at the sanatorium, reinforcing the region’s capacity to provide specialised follow-up care and rehabilitation.

Digital innovation supporting efficient project delivery

BIM and 3D digital models were used throughout the project to support coordination between design, construction and future operations. This digital approach enabled the teams to optimise project delivery while anticipating the operational requirements of the facility.

Close coordination between the client, designers, delivery teams and project partners contributed to occupancy approval being obtained almost nine months ahead of the original schedule. The Pálava Sanatorium is VCES’s second major healthcare project for the South Moravian Region, following the delivery of the Children’s Sanatorium and Speleotherapy Centre in 2022.
