A major hospital redevelopment to support a growing community
A W Edwards, a subsidiary of Bouygues Bâtiment International, is delivering the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment, a major infrastructure project designed to transform healthcare services for a rapidly growing population in New South Wales.
Responding to increasing demographic pressure, with more than 180,000 residents expected by 2041, the project aims to significantly expand the hospital's capacity while modernising its medical offer. It includes a new emergency department, the expansion of the intensive care unit, new operating theatres, a purpose-built ambulatory care centre, a paediatric short-stay unit, additional inpatient beds and enhanced medical imaging facilities, creating a comprehensive and future-ready healthcare environment.
At the core of the redevelopment is a 40,000 m² state-of-the-art clinical building, designed to integrate seamlessly with the existing campus, including the Graythwaite Rehabilitation Centre and the historic Denistone House, ensuring continuity between heritage and innovation.
The project also reflects strong environmental ambitions, incorporating photovoltaic panels, green roofs, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and advanced waste management systems, while maintaining a close connection with its natural surroundings, notably the adjacent Blue Gum High Forest.
