Transforming central London: the new Home Office headquarters

Bouygues UK, Bouygues Bâtiment International’s subsidiary in the United Kingdom, delivered a landmark transformation of central London through the design, construction, and long-term management of the new UK Home Office headquarters. This major Public Finance Initiative (PFI) project, completed in 2005, exemplifies innovative public-private partnership delivery.

he development encompassed the demolition of three 1960s tower buildings and the design and construction of a modern 75,000 m² headquarters accommodating nearly 3,500 government personnel. The project extended beyond the ministerial facility to include a mixed-use residential complex adjacent to the headquarters, comprising social housing, luxury apartments, retail outlets, and a crèche facility.

Bouygues UK managed demolition, design, and construction, whilst the Group’s UK facilities management subsidiary, undertook comprehensive facilities management services across the 26-year concession period.
