Bouygues Construction is chosen to build Manhattan Loft Gardens, its first tower in London

Manhattan Loft Gardens
The London property developer, Manhattan Loft Corporation, has selected Bouygues UK, the British subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, for the construction of Manhattan Loft Gardens, a 143-metre landmark tower in Stratford, East London. The project represents a gross development value (GDV) of £250 million (approx. €340 million).

Harry Handelsman, founder and CEO of Manhattan Loft Corporation, said: “Our appointment of Bouygues, with its vast international knowledge and experience of high-rise luxury developments, will add to our already top class project team. Manhattan Loft Gardens will continue the Olympic legacy by becoming Europe’s most exciting residential/hotel tower, thus confirming Stratford as one of the emerging prime residential, commercial and cultural hubs of London.”

Madani Sow, Deputy CEO of Bouygues Bâtiment International, added: “Manhattan Loft Gardens, developed by Harry Handelsman, will give its future residents a unique experience of London. Bouygues UK teams will be fully committed to turning this innovative vision into reality. Technical prowess and architectural quality will combine to produce a building that will be greatly appreciated by its future users.”

Manhattan Loft Gardens will be located next to Stratford International Station and High Speed 1, the Channel Tunnel rail link. It will play a key role in the regeneration of the area. Designed by architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), the 42-storey tower will include 248 apartments above a 150-room hotel, a spa, a triple-height lobby and two restaurants.

The unique structure of this building features two cantilevers which support three sky gardens giving unobstructed views across London. Manhattan Loft Gardens offers a new take on London garden squares and creates an environment suited to neighbourhood life and the development of urban biodiversity.

The works began earlier this year, and are due to be completed in spring 2018.

The start of this new construction site underlines Bouygues Construction’s dynamic profile on the British market. Operating in the United Kingdom for around 20 years, the Group has progressively grown its businesses in the sectors of property development (Bouygues Development), building (Bouygues UK), civil works (Bouygues Travaux Publics) and energy and services (Bouygues Energies & Services). Bouygues Construction manages numerous projects in the UK, with property development, design-build and operation contracts that involve large local institutions as well as projects in the housing, education, healthcare, street lighting and infrastructure sectors.
