Bouygues Travaux Publics, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, has expertise in the development of new modes of mobility, such as urban cable-cars. This new method of transport helps reduce traffic and the carbon impact of cities.

Bouygues Construction and BMF are building France’s first urban cable car in Brest. The new cable car will travel a distance of 450 metres, linking the two banks of the Penfeld River in just 3 minutes, and connecting the new eco-district of Les Capucins and its 4000 new occupants to the rest of the city. The infrastructure is capable of resisting wind speeds of up to 108km and is equipped with cable cars each designed to hold the equivalent of half a busload of passengers, meaning that it could carry up to 675,000 passengers per year. This innovative solution is cheaper than building a bridge, blends into the historic heart of the city and will also have a very low carbon footprint. The CO2 emissions per kilometre and per passenger will be 30 times less than for the same journey by car!
