FLOATING SOLAR POWER PLANT IN PIOLENC
Bouygues Construction positions itself on the development of low-carbon electric energy production infrastructures. In order to exploit the sun’s inexhaustible source of energy, Bouygues Construction designs, manufactures and ensures the operation of solar farm projects for its clients by committing to a long-term energy performance.
The first photovoltaic power plant in France and the largest floating solar power plant in Europe has been opened in Piolenc, a commune of 5,000 inhabitants in the department of Vaucluse (84). This groundbreaking project was realised by Bouygues Energies & Services, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction.
With almost 50,000 photovoltaic panels floating on a former quarry converted into an artificial lake, this plant will produce the equivalent of the electricity consumption of the commune of Piolenc every year (17 megawatts-peak) and will supply the electricity for over 4,700 households.
